This estate piece is a highly fascinating, historically significant artifact of international pipemaking: a vintage Peterson London Made straight Billiard. While Killarney’s famous factory is definitively bound to Dublin, Ireland, the firm maintained a highly influential London shop and blending house for significant portions of the 20th century. Pipes stamped specifically with English nomenclature represent a distinct era when bowls were either turned in their London workshop or sent from Dublin to be finished and stamped for the British market. These London-stamped variants are highly sought after by brand historians for their unique place in the company's manufacturing timeline.
The stummel is sculpted into an exceptionally traditional, lean straight Billiard, featuring a tall, muscular bowl and a slender, perfectly circular shank. The smooth finish is dressed in a deep, rich plum and walnut contrast stain that lets a beautiful grain profile show through. The cross-grain and tight swirls wrap handsomely around the bowl, giving way to sweeping grain along the flanks of the shank. The side of the shank bears a remarkably crisp, pristine factory stamp that reads Peterson's London & Dublin. The long shank transitions flush into a glossy, jet-black vulcanite stem that tapers elegantly to a traditional button.
