The 2023 Carolina Red Flake with Perique is a limited small-batch Virginia/Perique blend made from two Red Virginia grades, Canadian Bright leaf, and genuine St. James Perique. The Red Virginias bring deeper, bread-like and fruit-like richness; the Bright leaf lifts the mixture with sweetness; and Perique adds dark fruit and peppery spice. It is a layered flake intended to reward a slower pace, with more complexity than its short ingredient list might suggest.
