This exceptional estate piece is a masterfully executed, highly collectible example of artisan pipemaking from a legendary Canadian icon: a Julius Vesz Handcut, stamped with a Circle 2 grading designation and dated to 1996. Operating out of Toronto, Canada, Julius Vesz has spent over half a century establishing himself as one of North America's premier master carvers. He is world-renowned for his exclusive use of ultra-rare, centuries-old "dead root" briar—blocks harvested from old-growth briar that died naturally underground and aged for generations. This dense, ancient wood provides an incredibly light, sweet, and highly heat-resistant smoke that requires no break-in period. Within his work, the Handcut series represents his absolute top-of-the-line creations, meticulously shaped entirely by hand around the specific grain layouts of his oldest briar reserves.

The stummel is sculpted into a gorgeous, highly fluid bent Apple or rounded Author variant, featuring an incredibly thick-walled, muscular bowl with a beautifully swept heel. The briar is dressed in a smooth, high-contrast honey-gold and warm amber finish, specifically formulated to highlight an immaculate display of dynamic vertical flame grain cascading down the flanks, transitioning into a dense field of cross-grain bird's-eye clustering along the base and lower portion of the bowl. The stout, upward-curving shank features crisp, clean nomenclature identifying the pipe as a 1996 Handcut creation, alongside the Circle 2 stamp. The shank flows seamlessly into a hand-cut, premium black vulcanite taper stem that features Vesz's iconic white circle inlay on the left flank. The sweeping, continuous bend of the stem drops the gravity center perfectly, ensuring an effortless, featherweight clench.

The precise physical measurements for this Canadian artisan classic are:

Overall Length: 4.95 inches
Chamber Width: 0.68 inches
Chamber Depth: 1.65 inches

With a focused 0.68-inch chamber width and an impressive 1.65-inch depth, this bent classic features a deep, narrow, chimney-like internal layout. This architecture is an absolute dream for smoking fine-cut straight Virginias, complex Virginia-Perique cakes, or dense navy flakes. The tight chamber walls concentrate the airflow beautifully, promoting a slow, cool, and highly controlled burn that distills and caramelizes the natural sugars of the leaf as you smoke deeper down the bowl. Fully cleaned, sanitized, and buffed to a brilliant, glass-like luster while keeping the historic 1996 Toronto stamps perfectly crisp, this rare piece of Canadian pipe-making history is ready to bring premier smoking dynamics and elite heritage to a world-class collection.
