Kaywoodie Super Grain 5096 Prince 1930's Era

Kaywoodie was one of the great American pipe names of the twentieth century, and Super Grain was an important grade within the company’s long-running catalogue. This four-digit shape 5096 is a long, slender Prince stamped Grecian Briar, with a compact bowl and the elegant reach collectors expect from the shape. The button has been rebuilt, making this a sound smoking example rather than a mint collector piece. The pipe measures 6.51 inches long, with a 0.64-inch chamber opening and a chamber depth of 1.10 inches. The pipe is stamped “Super Grain”; “Kaywoodie”; “Grecian Briar”; “5096”. It has the rare Kaywoodie logo stamp on the shank which points to a very early production. There are markings on the bowl but I opted to not sand these down as I wanted to preserve the original shape of a pipe from this era. This is an exceptionally rare piece with the Kaywoodie white clover on the shank.
