This estate piece is a magnificent, highly collectible specimen of Danish artisan pipemaking: an Erik Nørding Hunting Series 2005 "The Hunter" edition. Launched by the legendary Copenhagen carver in 1995, the annual Hunting Series has become one of the most anticipated traditions in the pipe world, with each year's release completely redesigned from scratch to interpret a specific game animal. The 2005 edition is a particularly iconic release in this celebrated lineage. It showcases Nørding’s famous talent for blending organic, freehand design philosophies with superb engineering, resulting in a robust, visually striking pipe that delivers an exceptional smoke and stands out proudly in any high-grade collection.
The stummel is sculpted into an aggressive, fluidly carved bent Dublin profile, featuring a dramatic, forward-canted bowl that expands broadly toward a highly sculptural, asymmetrical rim. The choice briar is dressed in a rugged, deeply craggy sandblast along the lower flanks and bottom of the bowl, transitioning beautifully into a smooth, polished upper rim that highlights a dense, mesmerizing display of natural bird's-eye grain. The stout, muscular shank curves upward seamlessly, capped with a contrasting accent band that reinforces the joint. It pairs with a premium, durable saddle stem engineered with a wide, comfortable bite zone and a perfectly graduated internal draft hole, ensuring a remarkably cool, dry smoke and an effortless clench despite the pipe's substantial, hand-filling presence.
