From Nørding:
"Dear Erik Nørding.
With its soft chubby shape, the beaver will be a model for the annual Hunter’s Pipe 1998.
In the past, beavers used to be rather plentiful but their habitat has been depleted by hunting and trapping. Subsequently, there were very few beavers left in Europe. By successful means of preservation, the beaver population has been established in many countries and resettling is still under discussion in countries like Holland, Great Britain and Denmark.
The beaver is totally dependent on water and trees for food and the building of dams. They prefer many trees such as aspen, birch, rowan and willows. Beavers eat twigs, bark and a good share of leaves, all in huge quantities. A grown-up beaver is responsible for the felling of about 350 trees a year.
The Hunter Pipe has a bamboo extension that resembles the many gnawed stubbles which are left behind next to streams where the beaver has felled trees.
