This restored Tom Spanu Clairmont is a handmade Italian estate pipe connected to one of Sardinia’s most distinctive pipe makers. Pipedia notes that Tommaso “Tom” Spanu trained and worked in northern Italy before returning to Sardinia in 1979, where he established his own workshop. Pipedia also describes Spanu as unusual among pipe makers because he grew, harvested, milled, and conditioned his own briar. (pipedia.org)
The Clairmont name is associated with Spanu’s work for Alberto Paronelli, with examples described as handmade Italian pipes. This piece has been restored and presents as a compact, well-proportioned estate pipe with artisan interest and Italian workshop character. (MBSDpipes.com)
